The Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize members who have contributed to the life and health insurance industry throughout their careers as well as contributing to their community. As insurance agents became the primary financial advisors to their clients, the scope of the award broadened. In 2004, the award was renamed the I. David Cohen Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of David Cohen who originally conceived the award and for his many years of service to NAIFA-Columbus.
Christian Laver, LACP was selected as the 2023 recipient and was recognized by NAIFA-Columbus President, Scott Blake, during this year's luncheon on December 13, 2023.
During the luncheon, the 2024 Board of Directors Members were sworn into office and Scott Blake was presented with a distinguished President's Plaque for his service to NAIFA-Columbus this past year.
Christian Laver, a financial planner with more than forty years experience, has been a Columbus resident since he moved with his parents from Elyria, Ohio in 1959. A 1975 Upper Arlington High School graduate, Mr. Laver attended Miami University, and later received his B.A. in Finance from The Ohio State University in 1981. He has been a Registered Representative and an Investment Advisor Representative with Lincoln Financial Advisors since 1989.
A qualifying and life member of the Million Dollar Round Table, he has attained the prestigious Top of the Table honor ten times and Court of the Table more than twenty times.
He has prepared local presentations for the American Cancer Society and Special Olympics. Christian has also been a Guest Lecturer at both the Ohio State University and Ohio University, Upper Arlington Parks and Recreations, numerous community groups as well as lecturing professional continuing education classes. He is frequently asked to speak on special needs financial planning.
A former Director of the Upper Arlington Civic Association, he is a Past President of the Board of Trustees of the Upper Arlington Educational Foundation and Past President of the Upper Arlington Alumni Association. He is an ex-officio member of the Finance Committee. In addition, he is a life member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association. Mr. Laver serves on the Association Board of Directors for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium where he is a Strategic Advisor sitting on the development committee, and several ad hoc committees. Each December, Christian plays the role of "Santa Claus" for his community's children.
